About ScriptPacer
Welcome to ScriptPacer.com, the ultimate free online teleprompter, script timer, and delivery coach built specifically for modern video creators.
Our Mission
As short-form video formats like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels have grown to dominate social feeds, video creators face a new challenge: extreme time constraints. On these platforms, every second counts. If your script runs 61 seconds instead of 60, it can get disqualified as a Short. If you read too fast, your audience gets confused; if you read too slow, they swipe up.
We realized that traditional teleprompters were missing a critical piece: smart pacing. Most tools simply scroll text at a fixed speed, ignoring individual section limits, word count cadences, and practice analytics.
Our mission is to democratize professional video production gear. ScriptPacer provides a high-end, zero-maintenance, 100% free tool that runs directly in your browser, requiring no logins, no account setups, and storing your scripts completely privately on your own device.
Why ScriptPacer Wins
- Pacing Glow HUD: Visual colored glow lines at the bottom of the screen instantly alert you if you are ahead of schedule (green/amber) or behind (red).
- Section timing: Split your scripts with simple Markdown dividers (
---) and set targeted pacing marks for your hook, steps, and outro. - Draggable Camera HUD: Enable your selfie camera preview inside the prompter, drag it to any corner, control its opacity, and look directly at your lens while maintaining eye-level delivery.
- Privacy First: Your scripts are saved in your browser's local storage (localStorage). We have zero databases—meaning your proprietary scripts never leave your machine!
How ScriptPacer Measures Pacing
There's no magic here, just arithmetic done carefully. ScriptPacer counts the words in your script and divides them by your speaking speed in words per minute (WPM): duration (s) = words ÷ WPM × 60. The default assumption is 140 WPM — the middle of the 130–150 WPM range most people land in when talking naturally to a camera. You can adjust it after a practice run, because your real pace matters more than any average.
Section timing works the same way, just per section: split your script with --- dividers, give each part its own time target, and the prompter compares your actual position against the plan as you read. Everything is computed live in your browser — there is no server doing analysis, which is also why your scripts never leave your device.
Who's Behind ScriptPacer?
ScriptPacer is built and maintained by Tomasz Lichosik, an independent software developer based in Poland (EU). I build free, browser-based tools — and I record my own tutorial and product videos, which is exactly how ScriptPacer started: I kept blowing past the 60-second limit on Shorts and wanted a prompter that told me while reading whether I was on pace, not after. The advice on the blog comes from that same practice, not from a content farm. Questions or ideas? Use the contact page — I read everything.
